Erie Canal Construction Bicentennial 1817-1825
Hello Friends and Fellow Educators:
2017 marks the beginning of the construction of the Erie Canal. On July 4, 1817 near Rome, NY the ceremonial groundbreaking of the 'Clinton's Folly" began. The NFCSS and its partner organizations will work on creating educational programming and community events to celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of the construction and completion of the Erie Canal on October 26, 1825.
The NFCSS has created a sub-committee comprised of educators, historians, students & likeminded individuals to work with state and local government agencies to plan events to commemorate this historic period in American history. Please join us!
