Graycliff Conservancy

Graycliff is more than just an architectural gem in an unforgettable setting. Standing majestically on the shore of Lake Erie in the Town of Evans, Graycliff, the summer home of Darwin and Isabelle Martin which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a destination for future generations to become immersed in and inspired by the stories that helped shape our country and our people.
Graycliff is a story about a wealthy businessman’s ambition of building a breezy, summer retreat for his family; a woman’s steadfast influence in an otherwise male-dominated society; an acclaimed architect seemingly on the downward slope of his career; and a country on the brink of a financial crisis that threatened to extinguish it all.
These are all themes that are rich illustrations of state history, our economy, and the complex interactions of people that bring history to life and offer a unique opportunity for student inquiry, discussion, and expression.

We recognize that in the context of rapid societal change, our signature achievement must remain the development of dedicated professionals and scholarly products characterized by their integrity, as well as their intellectual excellence.
SUNY at Buffalo State College School of Education

Since 1871, when the Buffalo Normal School first opened its doors, Buffalo State has enjoyed a long and distinguished history of preparing highly effective teachers and educational leaders.
For more than 140 years we have dedicated our research, scholarship and community service to that prime directive.
Since those early days, the education of children and adults has undergone many changes. The turbulent decades of the industrial revolution and rapid growth in the 20th century swiftly passed into the technologically miraculous 21st century. Children of several grade levels studying under the roof of a one-room schoolhouse transitioned to students learning individually and online in their homes or engaged in multi-media instruction and formation.
Through it all, education continues to be critical to the advancement of civilization, the promotion of socially just communities, and the stability of a peaceful world united in its care for children and families.
While times change and educational trends rise and fall, the essence of our mission remains--a fierce dedication to offering education programs that meet the highest possible national standards of the profession. Thus, we continue receiving accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since its inception in 1954. In addition, we are continuously engaged in data driven decision making, clinically enriched programming, assessment based accountability, and relevant curriculum development using national standards.
We are a vibrant community of faculty, staff and students committed to the intellectual, personal and professional growth of future and practicing professionals in the diverse fields of education. Our commitment transforms lives and the communities where our candidates and graduates live and serve.

The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site*

The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site is operated by the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site Foundation, a registered non-profit organization, through a cooperative agreement with the National Park Service.
BRINGING A LEGEND TO LIFE. It's one of the most amazing and improbable moments in American history. It's the story of a man thrust into national prominence following great tragedy. A man who went on to become one of the most influential U.S. Presidents of all time. And you can experience it for yourself, at the house where Theodore Roosevelt was sworn into office, where the modern presidency began, and where a legend was introduced to the world. We offer many on-site educational programs designed for elementary school, middle school, and high school classes.
The Collection:
The TR Site is home to an extensive collection of artifacts and documents related to TR - his inauguration and presidency, the assassination of President McKinley, the Wilcox family and their residence on 641 Delaware Ave and the Pan American Exposition.
Tours:
Experience TR's unusual 1901 inauguration like never before. With a combination of historically restored rooms and interactive exhibits, you'll feel as if you are part of the events of that fateful September, while gaining a new perspective on the issues Roosevelt faced during his presidency.
Special Exhibits:
There's so much more to the TR Site's collection than we can show at any one time. So we pull the curtain back on more of it through special exhibits at the Site throughout the year.
Social Issues of TRs Day:
The topics of today's headlines are remarkably similar to those that the nation wrestled with during TR's presidency. Learn how little has changed since then.
Educator Resources:
History comes alive for young and old alike at the TR Site. We can also bring it to you. Learn more here.
